Elias Swentoslawski Morrison


Elias Swentoslawski Morrison was born July 13, 1886 in Klodawa, Poland. He was the son of Moishe Swentoslawski and Pearl Kolsky.

Elias worked for Theodore. His wife, Rose Weiss was born in 1893 in Lodz, Poland.

Elias and Pearl's children were Max Morrison, born in 1915, and Pearl Edith Morrison, born in 1918.

In 1920 they were living in Chicago. The household consisted of Elias age 31, Rose age 27, Max age 5, and Pearl age 2.

At the time of the 1930 census, Rose, Pearl and Max were in De Pere, Brown County, Wisconsin.

Pearl died when she was only 20 years old from strep.

Elias died on July 14, 1947 in Los Angeles.

  • Klodawa is just north of Lodz in the Posnan or Posen province. Before World War I, Poland was a province of the Russian empire. 

    Chicago, Illinois saw a major expansion in industry in the 1920s and prohibition led to the Gangster Era from 1919 until 1933. It was the nation's railroad center.
