Isidore (Isaac, Itzig) Yarmark (Jarmark)  was born on April 22, 1835 in eastern Galicia on the San River in the Lwow district. He was the son of Jacob Jarmark and Kate Harris. Their names are from his death certificate. He married Fanny Neger. Their children and life together are described in detail in the section on Isidore and Fanny Yarmark.

In 1900 he worked as a presser. He died on April 23, 1915 of endocarditis. He was buried in Washington Cemetery in Brooklyn. His estate was probated in Brooklyn Surrogate Court. At the time he died he possessed $450.00 and no real estate.

Galicia is in east central Europe between Poland and the Ukraine. In 1815, the Congress of Vienna ceded Galacia to Austria. From 1873, Galicia was an autonomous province of Austria-Hungary with Polish, Ukrainian and Ruthenin as official languages. From the 1880s to the World War I, a mass emigration from Galacia occurred.
