Mary Dickerson Lanham

 

Dickerson-also spelled Dickason, Dickieson, Dickinson, Dickison, and Dickson.

 
 

Mary Dickerson was born about 1692 in Prince George's County, Maryland . She was the daughter of Thomas Dickerson.

She married John Lanham, Jr. John was born about 1689 in Prince George's County, Maryland. He was the son of John and Dorothy Lanham.

Mary and John's children may have included:

Thomas Lanham (1709),
John Lanham (1712)
Mary Lanham (1714, married John Parmer, Jr.),
William Lanham (1717)
Elizabeth Lanham (1721, married Daniel Fraser),
Eleazer Lanham (1723, married Verlinda Stonestree),
Elisha Lanham (1725), and
Dorothy Lanham (married Francis Piles).

On November 2, 1717, Thomas Dickinson conveyed the tracts Dickson's Lott and Fox's Hole to his daughter, Mary Lanham. Thomas' wife, Isabella, consented.

In 1717 John's father gave him half of Lanham's Addition.

In 1728 John, Jr. gave his cousin, Thomas, part of Chance.

Calverton Manor was situate "on a certain tract of land at the Head of Wicomico River, called Chaptico," but reaching far back into the Forest. " Given, "in Lord Baltimore's phrase, "from us, about 8,000 or 10,000 acres," of which 1,000 were to be reserved for him and his heires. Robert Clarke, Surveyor General, to be Steward of the Manor — certainly not a sinecure in this case — and to keep Court Leet and Court Baron, the Remainder of the Mannour to be given to the Indians in grants of 50 acres with the exception of the Werowance, none to be over 200 acres. Also certain quantity of land to be assigned to adventurers or planters of English and Irish descent from 50 to 100 acres.

we give to our sd daughter, 100 acres of land which is part of a tract of land called the Two Johns, bounded by a tract of land called Lanhams Folly, a place where Thomas Lanham Jr begins,
containing and laid out for about 100 acres.

In the name of God, Amen, I John Lanham Senior of Prince George's County thro the Mercy and goodness of God the weak in body yet of a perfect understanding this my last will and Testament as follows

I make and appoint my beloved wife Executrice of this my last will and Testament and charge her with all my debts legacies and funeral charges.

Item - I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter, Daurity [Dorthy] on Hundred and six acres of land which I had by my wife; and she is willing to give it to hir after hir death where unto she Doth set her hand and seal; to hir and hir heirs and assigns for ever.

Item - I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Mary all and singular my moveable Estate during hir life and after hir Decease to be equally divided between my six children, Vis. Thomas, Mary, Eleazer, Elisha, Elizabeth and Daurity

as Witness my hand and seal this 4th day of February 1763.
