Bishop Hans George Bachtell was born in the second half of the 17th century in Europe.

His son may have been Bishop Hans Jacob Bachtell.

He became a Mennonite minister in the Palatinate in 1727.

He arrived in Philadelphia on August 23, 1728 and settled in Washington Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania.
