James Ricketts

 

Ricketts is also spelled Rickeots, Rickeotts, Rickett, Rickets, Ricket, Rickel, Rickle, Rickels, and Rickles.

 
Woodford County, Illinois was formed in 1841 from parts of Tazewell and McLean Counties. Metamora (Hanover before 1845) was the county seat from 1843-1894.

Tazewell County, Illinois was formed out of Peoria County in 1827.

James Ricketts was born on January 19, 1828 in Dearborn (now Ohio) County, Indiana. His parents were William Ricketts and Elizabeth Oxley

At the time of the 1850 census, he was living in District 56. Woodford County, Illinois.

He married Angelythe King about 1858 in Woodford County, Illinois. She was born about 1841 in Illinois and was the daughter of Enoch King and Celia Ann Owen.

At the time of the 1860 census they were living in Washington Township, Tazewell County, Illinois. James was 35 and Angelythe (Antelethia) was 19.

In 1870 he was still in Washington Township and living with "Celinda Riddle" age 19.

In the 1870s a James Ricketts who was born in Indiana appeared in the Woodford County Alms Register.

An Anna Ricketts also appeared.

In 1880 James was working in a mill and living in Metamora, Woodford County, Illinois. He was married to Julia. Julia was born about 1852 in Illinois.

James died April 8, 1885.

Ohio County, Indiana was first created in 1844 from Dearborn County. The county seat is Rising Sun which is in Randolph Township. Ohio County is in southeast Indiana on the Kentucky border. In 1826, the Dearborn County Courthouse burned containing all records.
