  • Anne E. Fox was born about 1844 in St. Clair Township, Butler County, Ohio. She was the daughter of Levi Fox and Eliza Yerkes.

She was five when her mother died of cholera and at the time of the 1850 census. A census notation indicated that she was 'dumb.' Her name was Annaliza in the 1856 Iowa Census. She was 16 when the 1860 census was taken and a notation reads "idiotic."

She was not listed in the 1870 census. She probably died or may have been sent to the Institution for the Deaf and Dumb in Iowa City before 1870 and in Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie County after 1870 or the Asylum for Feeble Minded Children in Mills County.

St. Clair Township was organized in 1803. It included the present townships of Oxford, Milford, Wayne, Reily and Hanover and was bounded on the north by Preble County, on the east by Lemon Township, on the south by the Miami River and Ross Township, and on the west by the State of Indiana.
