Jonathan Wood, Sr. was born about 1745 in Fairfax County, Virginia.

He married Nancy Davison Osborne. Nancy was the daughter of James Davidson, Sr. and Solomon Osborne's widow.

John Wood (1771, married Nancy Goff),
Mary "Polly" Wood Morrison (1776, married George Morrison),
Henry Wood (1773, married Sarah Lawson),
Jonathan Wood, Jr. (1778, married Ann Skillen),
Martha Wood (1779).

In 1767, Jonathan and Nancy Wood and Nancy's son, James Osborne, went from eastern Virginia to Big Moccasin Creek near Fort Houston.

Quit claim agreement [recorded March 1823]:

We, James Osborn, John Wood, Henry Wood, of Scott Co., Va., and George Morison, of Sullivan Co., Tenn., relinquish forever all claims unto our brother, Jonathan Wood, admr. of Jonathan Wood, decd. and herself [Nancy] and her real personal estate and all other affairs whatever from the decease of our father, Jonathan W.
