1/4 cup butter or margarine
4 cup shredded carrots
2 1/2 lbs ground beef chuck
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
pepper
3/4 teaspoon sage
3 teaspoon fat or olive oil
3 cups hot well seasoned mashed spuds

chop onion
brown in butter
add carrots
cover
cook slowly 10 min.

combine meat salt pepper sage

Shape into 16 cakes

Saute meat cakes in fat turning to brown both sides

Place carrots between meat cakes sandwich style

top with spuds

brown under broiler

serves 8
