An American Family History

Nathaniel Hunn

Before 1752 the year began on March 25th. Dates between January 1st and March 24th were at the end of the year, not the beginning.

Nathaniel Hunn was born about 1623 in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. His parents were George and Ann Hunn.

When his father died in 1640 he directed that James Johnson be Nathaniel's guardian and Nathaniel was to James' servant for five years.

He married Sarah Keen about 1649.

In 1672 he was a member of The Ancient and Honorable Artillery. It was chartered in 1638 by the Massachusetts Bay Company.

He died in 1704.

The Society of Friends began in England in the 1650s, when they broke away from the Puritans. Early Quakers were persecuted. In the Massachusetts Bay colony, Friends were banished on pain of death. Pennsylvania was founded by William Penn, as a safe place for Friends to live and practice their faith.
