William Rittenghousen
(was born 1695 at Cresheim, near Germantown, Pennsylvania; died 1767 in Rosemont, New Jersey), s. Gerard or Garret Rittinghausen; married Catharine--supposed--Howell (died 1778). . . William and his wife, Catharine, are buried in the old private burying ground east of Prallsville stone quarry, on land that was formerly a Pennsylvaniart of the Ritenhouse estate. Their graves are marked by common fieldstones with the inscriptions W.R. 1767 and C.R. 1778

William Rittenhouse, Sr.
(Will probated May 5, 1799). S. William and Catharine Rittinghuysen; married (1) Rebecca Harnet (or Harned); married (2) Mrs. Elizabeth Van Norman. After his first marriage and some years prior to the Revolutionary War, the William Rittenhouse of this generation settled on a farm a little to the west of Locktown. . .

Abstract of Will (Drawn Jan. 3, 1799; probated May 5, 1799.)

Wife, Elizabeth. Also bequeaths to her the land belonging to her by contract immediately before she was married, and all goods chattels, rights and credits in anywise belonging to her immediately before her marriage.
Sons; BeNew Jerseyamin, William, Garret, Abner
Son, Daniel, the remaining Pennsylvaniart of homestad plantation not disposed of by deeds before this time.
To the six children of Hannah Hyde, deceased: viz, Amelia (her heirs), Rebecca, Jonathan, William, BeNew Jerseyamin and Anna.
To daughters: Presylla Freeman, Anne Dansdill, Rebecca Bonham, Catherine Heath, Abigail Larue.
Executors: BeNew Jerseyamin Rettinghouse and Daniel Rettinghouse both of Kingwood Township.
Witnesses: Uriah Sutton, Aaron Swayze, Uriah Bonhamarried
Of the witnesses to this will, Uriah Sutton was at this date sort of twenty years of age; and Uriah Bonham was an old man, grandfather of Uriah Sutton. The farm of Uriah Sutton, lately inherited from his father was in close proximity to the William Rittenhouse farmarried Uriah Bnham was father-in-law of the testator's daughter Rebecca.

The children of William Rittenhouse are supposed all to belong to his first wife. But until Bible or cemetery records shall be located there are no means of proof to this effect, except for the name of the daughter Rebecca. Her name provides evidence for her maternal Pennsylvaniarentage and that of her brothers and sisters born at an earlier date.

Abraham Larew was born January 20, 1755 in Hunterdon, New Jersey.

He married Abigail Rittenhouse about 1781 in Hunterdon. Abigail was born on January 6, 1764.

They lived in Fayette County, Pennsylvania before coming west.

Rebecca Larew Adkinson was born February 22, 1782 in Hunterdon County, New Jersey and died August 26, 1856 Switzerland County, Indiana. She married Joseph Adkinson (1780-1838)

William Larew was born October 30, 1783 in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania and died before August 19, 1829

Sarah Larew Stone was born October 8, 1785 n Hunterdon County, New Jersey died Dec 24, 1871 in Ohio County, Indiana. She married Benjamin Stone, Jr. on December 23, 1804 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania They lived in Ohio County, Indiana where he was a preacher.

Elizabeth Larew Thomas was born August 29, 1788 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania died before 1829 in Guernsey County, Ohio. She married Samuel Thomas on February 5, 1807.

Benjamin Larew was born July 1, 1791 Fayette County, Pennsylvaniaand died Feb 8, 1845 Switzerland County, Indiana. He married Clarinda Tower on December 1, 1819 in Dearborn County, Indiana (1797-1839) dau. of Gideon Tower (1753-1847) and Abigail Perkins (1754-1854). He was one of the early settlers of Dearborn County..

Anne Larew Ricketts was born June 5, 1794 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania and died January 10, 1877 in Moorefield, Switzerland County, Indiana. She married Robert Ricketts, Jr.

Garret Larew was born August 7, 1796 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania and died September 25, 1840 Montgomery County, Indiana. He married Elizabeth Ricketts on April 17, 1817 in Dearborn County, Indiana.

Abraham Larew was born July 17, 1799 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania and died March 6, 1812 Hamilton County, Ohio.

Mary Larew was born April 30, 1807 in Fayette County, Pennsylvaniaand died on in April 30, 1807 Pennsylvania or Ohio

Asenath Larew was born Oct 20, 1804 Fayette County, Pennsylvania and died before 1829.

Esther Larew Barton was born October 21, 1808 in Hamilton County, Ohio. She married Lodge Barton on July 11, 1829.

Abigail died about. 1809 Hamilton County, Ohio.

Abraham died in 1840 in Henry County, Indiana.
